Born in Salisbury, raised in Auckland and coming full circle to the South Coast of England, where Toby Butler is currently based.
In its simplest form, Toby’s work focuses on people and place. Telling stories and creating authentic imagery with built in narrative. Having always been close to the ocean, it has become his most engaged subject, personally. “It has taught me alot. Humbling, inspiring, and always changing. It has undoubtedly shaped my photographic style. Working on location, being comfortable in ever changing situations and knowing when to take control or let go, and admire.”
Approaching a situation with multiple images in mind, Toby often comes away with moments that both stand alone, and can be combined, in a variety of ways, to further portray a message or look deeper into a subject.
